Dear Community Council
We are running a pilot project with Gwynedd Council to improve public green spaces for biodiversity. If you have green spaces or verges in your town or village that you are responsible for – it’s very easy to encourage native wildflowers by making simple changes to your cutting regime. We can help you identify suitable areas – such as the corners of a park – or a bank that’s not used for walking or playing – to do this. We can also provide some local provenance brush harvested meadow seed from natural local meadows. This is the perfect time of year to sow it.
Creating/restoring meadow habitat in your local area is a lovely way to engage people with nature close up in their communities. It’s also an easy way to contribute to biodiversity improvement plans under the section 6 of the Environment Wales Act https://www.legislation.gov.uk/anaw/2016/3/section/6
Please watch our 1 minute animation for a simple guide to the changes in cutting regime we recommend
Best wishes
